Since Thanksgiving is just around the corner, what a great time to check out some books about the holiday at the library or gift them to your children or grandchildren. A few children’s book makes a cute hostess gift for a family hosting Thanksgiving, too!
Reading true stories of overcoming hardship, courage, and God’s faithfulness, as was the case with the first Thanksgiving, can be so impactful on a child’s character development. November is a wonderful time to revisit the Thanksgiving story and other stories of bravery and kindness as well. For example, Cranberry Thanksgiving is a sweet book for all ages about inviting others in, Sharing the Bread is about working together as a family on the Thanksgiving meal, Little Women fans will love Old Fashioned Thanksgiving and The Thanksgiving Story beautifully illustrates the story of Thanksgiving. Look for some of these titles at your local library:
Note: some of these classic books might need to have a little accompanying parental commentary.
Happy November!
